Philadelphia City Center office cleaners, unable to reach agreement in labor negotiations with Center City office building administrators will vote Wedsnesday at 1pm on whether or not to strike. The workers contend that a minimum pay of $12 per hour doesn’t take into consideration the increase in cost of living for gas, food, rent and other necessities.

Under the current contract, wages begin at $12 an hour for workers at ABM Industries Inc., Arthur Jackson Co., and Shellville Facility Services. But food, fuel, and rent prices are up, Center City offices are prospering, and workers need a raise, the union says.
